Broaden your scope of practice by earning this advanced practice graduate certificate program. Coursework empowers advanced practice nursing professionals to enhance their careers and pursue board certification in the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) specialization Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).

Board-certified practitioners will be qualified to manage all aspects of primary care, including diagnosis and management of common acute and complex chronic conditions for families. Learn to educate patients, provide guidance and interventions, and safely perform procedures common to adult primary care clinical practice.

Courses in this certificate program are also offered in the online Doctor of Nursing Practice. Both programs are provided by the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing in the College of Education and Health Professions.

State Authorization

The program is to meet the educational requirements for the occupational license of Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). Individual state boards of nursing may regulate out-of-state nursing education programs or clinical placement courses at APRN level.

This University of Arkansas program is approved by the following state boards of nursing to enroll students: Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky,  Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
Territories: Guam and American Samoa.

The program is currently not available to students residing in the following states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Minnesota, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Washington, Washington DC, and Wyoming.

This degree program requires clinical or internship hours that must be completed in an approved U.S. location or U.S. military base for military personnel.
